Distance from the Sun and orbital speed both matter, but the pattern you feel in everyday comparisons is simple: inner planets finish laps quickly; outer planets take decades or centuries. Your age on any body is how many of its orbital periods fit into the Earth days you have already lived:

Ageplanet = Earth days lived ÷ Orbital period (Earth days)

When you enter Earth age directly, the tool converts Earth years × 365 to Earth days first. That matches the simplified year length used in most introductory astronomy tables and keeps classroom hand calculations aligned with the numbers on screen.

Worked example: 25 Earth years on Mars

Twenty-five Earth years ≈ 25 × 365 = 9,125 Earth days. Mars needs about 687 Earth days per orbit, so 9,125 ÷ 687 ≈ 13.28 Mars years. You would still say twenty-five at a family dinner on Earth—but a Martian calendar would list you as thirteen.

Worked example: same person on Mercury
