How to Use the Test Calculator
This calculator helps you quickly determine a test score or grade based on the number of questions and how many answers were incorrect.
- Select a grade scale: Choose between a standard scale (A, B, C, D, F) or an extended scale with pluses and minuses (A+, A, A-, B+, etc.).
- Enter the number of questions: Input the total number of questions on the test or quiz.
- Enter the number of wrong answers: Input the number of questions answered incorrectly. You can also use the + Wrong button to increment the count as you grade.
As you change the inputs, the calculator instantly updates the percentage grade, letter grade, and fraction grade. Additionally, the Grade Options Table below the calculator shows all possible scores for the given number of questions, making it easy to create a grading key.
Grading Scales
Depending on your selection, the calculator maps percentages to letter grades. The extended scale offers more granularity for borderline grades.
Standard Scale Example:
- A: 90% and above
- B: 80% to 89%
- C: 70% to 79%
- D: 60% to 69%
- F: Below 60%
