What is Total Daily Energy Expenditure (TDEE)?

Total Daily Energy Expenditure (TDEE) is an estimation of the total number of calories you burn per day. It is determined by taking your Basal Metabolic Rate (BMR) and multiplying it by an activity factor representing your daily motion.

Estimation Formulas

This calculator supports two premier mathematical models to estimate your resting metabolic rate:

  • **Mifflin-St Jeor:** The standard model based on height, weight, gender, and age. Used by default.
  • **Katch-McArdle:** A highly accurate model used when body fat percentage is known, focusing entirely on Lean Body Mass (LBM). Formula: $\text{BMR} = 370 + 21.6 \times \text{LBM (kg)}$.
Disclaimer. TDEE values are projections. Metabolic baselines fluctuate based on body composition, hormones, thyroid function, and medical history. Consult a physician or dietitian before making substantial adjustments to your diet.
