Understanding Body Shape Categories
Your body type classification describes the relative proportions of your bust, waist, high hip, and hips. While body shape is primarily a styling indicator, the **Waist-to-Hip Ratio (WHR)** is a clinically recognized marker for cardiovascular and metabolic health.
Standard Shape Rules
This tool uses established fashion sizing criteria based on relative size differences (measured in inches):
- **Hourglass:** Bust and hips are nearly equal (difference $\le 1$ inch), and the waist is at least $9$ inches smaller than the bust (or $10$ inches smaller than the hips).
- **Pear (Triangle):** Hips are significantly larger than the bust (difference $\ge 3.6$ inches), and the waist-to-hip delta is relatively small.
- **Inverted Triangle:** The bust is significantly larger than the hips (difference $\ge 3.6$ inches).
- **Rectangle:** Bust, waist, and hips are balanced with minimal curve variations.
- **Spoon:** Hips are larger than the bust, with a defined waist and prominent high hip swell.
Disclaimer. Silhouette classifications are approximate styling aids and do not indicate physical health or athletic capability. Waist-to-hip indicators provide standard risk estimates. Check with a healthcare provider for comprehensive physical assessments.
